answering Ruth re Pynchon interview

I don't know if you'e including me in that statement, but for the record
I've never claimed to know Pynchon.  I heard about the Playboy Japan
interview, got a friend in Japan to translate it, and shared it with the
P-list. When I get a more polished translation from Naoki, I'll share it
with the list, too.

Anybody who has doubts about this all -- feel free to get a copy of Playboy
Japan, have the article translated, and tell us what you learn. I'm all
ears.
