Well, having seen LOTR last Sunday, the main quality is, I think, that technique
that makes it possible that the halflings are really half as big as other
beings. This gives the movie a kind of vulnerability: the kids have to solve
the problems. I was pretty impressed with that.

(and the silly ears of the elph Legolas, inspired by dr. Spock)

But the best US movie of the year remains 'Apocalypse Now Redux', to be followed
by 'The Man Who Wasn't There'. (Mulholland Drive only to come out next month
). The European film I enjoyed most was 'Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain',
released recently in the US as 'Amélie de Montmartre'. And the worst movie of
the year must be 'A.I.': so bad I couldn't help but laughing out loud.

Michel.
