While I agree that the last few paragraphs of the McKnight article did seem
to have been edited down somewhat, I think the points he made were quite
clear nonetheless, and quite "Left". Your summation of the article

didn't give much indication that you had read or understood it at all, or
that you wished to engage in reasonable discussion. The rest of your post
didn't really address any of his points either.

There were several rounds of negotiations with the Taliban, both in the
*weeks* prior to military intervention, and then an offer to negotiate was
made again about week or so into the campaign, as I recall it. I don't know
what you mean by claiming that the "Taliban 'cried Uncle'", but I suspect
that whatever you do mean it is that which is "simply not true".
As for "bringing people out" - to what ends?
