... and speaking, as is occasionaly done here, of non-Pynchon books
Pynchon fans might enjoy, and speaking, as Otto (channelling Leo
Bersani) was, of Judge Schreber, do note that the following translation
is back in print ...

Schreber, Daniel Paul. Memoirs of My Nervous Illness.
    New York: NYRB, 2000.

And see thereupon ...

Santner, Eric L. My Own Private Germany: Daniel Paul
Schreber's Secret History of Modernity. Princeton, NJ:
    Princeton UP, 1998.

Friedrich Kittler (Discourse Networks 1800/1900; Gramophone, Film,
Typewriter; "Media and Drugs in Pynchopn's Second World War") considers
Schreber's Memoir a modern classic. Sure is wacky (but never wack), at
any rate. And the New York Review of Books is doing the Lord's work in
keeping such neglected classics in print, see also recent eds. of
Alberto Moravia's Contempt and Ernst Junger's The Glass Bees ...
