Question--Van Gogh, she cums in colors

I remember reading a book about light and color that I think
Van Gogh read or Gauguin. It was a very important book to
these guys, d--- it anyway, can't remember. 
Anyway, I know we have discussed light and color, but this
book, if 
I remember correctly, is very close to what Hugh's describes
and if we 
go back to Hume, Berkely, a few others...we can pull up the
skin and look for the soul...no we don't have to go back to
Aristotle, but Hume/Berkeley/Mach
