Interestingly, that the U.S. might never have declared
war on Nazi Germany even while at war with Imperial
Japan is the allohistorical premise of ...

Gingrich, Newt and William R. Fortschen.  1945.
   New York: Baen Books, 1995.

Can't recall just how that happens, but ... but
unfortunately (for my morbid curiosity, at any rate),
the promised sequel, to be titled (duh) 1946, was
apprently never written.  It certainly wasn't
published.  

Particularly interesting, however, is 1945's
fetishization of otherwise unrealized Luftwaffe
projects (although I could swear it implied there were
jets at its Pearl Harbor, even).  Which reminds me ...

And check yr local listings for that "Secret Weapons
of the Third Reich" or whatever series that aired on
The History channel (a.k.a. The Hitler Channel).  "Ah,
the Luftwaffe.  The Washington Generals of the History
Channel," as The Washington Post opined ...

In the "Gingrich" and Fortschen novel, the U.S. is
nonetheless dragged into the conflict, as the Reich,
fearing what might well be an inevitable conflict,
stages a pre-emptive commando strike against the still
ongoing, albeit somewhat less urgent Manhattan
project.
