Yes, I was referring to the Industrial Companies and Banks.
The FIRMS were Private.

It's gunna sound like I'm defending these bastards. I am
not! I am interested in getting
the story cleaned up and trying to figure out how Thomas
Pynchon rakes the mud and to what end. IMHO, when you clean
it up, the story is far better than the smear story.
And the divide between what the public accepts as journalism
(JUNK, TV and so forth) and scholarship can be closed w/o
compromise. I saw Chomskey on the Tube at friends house, he
was talking about the War. It was awful, sad, the gentleman
that interviewed him, boiled the life out of Chomskey's
statements and the interview said to the public, war is bad,
but the government is not evil, the president is not evil,
war is a bad thing but....

Fiction is what I love, it always gets me. Pynchon is so
good at it, why read the unauthorized Bush Biography (junk)
when you can read Underworld? Ha! Ha!

Yes, white shoes, like Pynchon & Company, they were all
private partnerships, the boys clubs. Until the 1980s when
some of the boys realized that they could turn a private
partnership into HUGE companies and they needed to go Public
to raise the money in order to warehouse the new products,
Mortgage Products mostly, but all the new stuff,
Derivatives...

The clients, the ones with YOUR money, the insurance
companies and Pension Funds and Money Managers, Banks?
(Crack, crack, crack goes the glass, no, not the ceiling
ladies, the Glass Stiegal (sp?) Act, an in come those stodgy
old Bankers with whistles and Bells and curves too, Bell
curves even, and hey, wait a minute, that boy working in the
back office, Tyrone, the black kid (he's really 35 years
old), the one with the blood shot eyes (says he plays Jazz
up town, but They think he's selling Mary Jane through the
shipping department) and those others, are they going to be
able to buy OUR stock? Before you know it there will be
bitches on the trading floor.

But they needed a lot of money and here was only one way to
get it, go Public.
