Benny's job

It seems like a contract labor sort of thing (cf 'On the
Waterfront' perhaps).
I think there's no question that Benny and the boys are
getting paid. Why
else would they be doing it?

Sure, to get money, we will learn later that Benny has even
managed to save some of the sewer job money, but there are
contradictions.
