underworld too long?

I have stopped reading "Underworld" around page 300 or
so because the book was, well, perhaps not exactly
boring, but for some reason did not manage to keep me
interested. I prefer De Lillo's shorter novels and
have the impression that with "Underworld" he wanted
to accomplish more than he was capable of.
