resistance has Benny to the WIND?"
Yes, but when he finds a situation to occupy, he seems to have SOME
"resistance to the wind." When he got off the subway and hooked up
with the Mendoza family, he became a *willing* (and, yes, passive, for
the most part) object of mercy and it took, it seems, a fairly strong
wind to blow him back onto the Dream Street and return him to transient
schlemihlhood. The money from the Patrol isn't keeping him, he really
doesn't want to be an actual member of the family, and he's really not
offering much in the way of usefulness to any of the Mendoza family,
yet he stayed despite his relationship with Fina being more difficult
than his paying job.
