Sort of... maybe: there's no doubt that he wants to be a big star, sure, and
to that extent you're right. But it is really hard to say that e actually
targets anybody besides from himself and other stars, even though that
appears contrary to what seems obvious. On the other hand, Zappa, whose
sixties work I admire and ditto his eighties public pronouncements, was
targeting just these very people by the late seventies - ordinary people who
seemed a little weird to Frank. At least that's my memory of "Shiek
Yerbouti" (it's been a while since I listened up), and bits of "Joe's
Garage" too.
