Lothrop?

I am reminded of the various and sundry architectural
references throughout _Gravity's Rainbow_, and wonder
if TRP is somehow drawing parallels with the
pre-Colonial Lothrops.  Is the Lothrop/Slothrop
connection a point of satire?  If so, who is the butt
of the joke?  Do the architectural references assume a
significance beyond the personal for TRP?  To what
extent is our friendly author making a statement about
contemporary (i.e. 20th Cent.) architecture and it's
effects on the human psyche, much like Frank Lloyd
Wright did in his developments of the Prairie School??
 I leave these questions for more astute minds to
ponder and banter.
