Leaving aside the problem of waht or where "C&O
compartment" is for the moment, note that Pig is
"Scaffold bound" not in that he is "bound" on or to
the Scaffold, but in that he is on his way to the
U.S.S. Scaffold here, having been "dr[awn] out to
Virginia Beach," and, specifically, "chez Hanky
Panky," by "something Panky 'did' during the act of
love which turned Pig, as Pig put it, on" (pp. 374-5).
 Okay, I actually talked about the book today, very
good ...
