NP pigs & property

A Minnesota landowner who faced opposition to his house-building plans has
decided to build a pig farm instead.

Marley Danner's neighbours in St Paul opposed the plan so he's bought
between 30 and 40 pigs and is starting a hobby farm on his 16-acre site.

To warn the neighbours, he put up a sign saying: "Houses or pigs. Your
choice was pigs. Pigs coming soon!"

His grandchildren have attached teddy bears to a fence to welcome them.

Mr Danner's original plan was to build 31 homes

Neighbours complained and they couldn't come to a compromise over the size
of the individual lots.

Neighbour Catherine Mielke said: "He was pigheaded about it, speaking of
pigs."

The neighbours wanted some land to remain vacant between the new houses and
their own.

"'Now they want to negotiate, but it's too late," Mr Danner told the Pioneer
Planet. "'I'm already committed to the pigs. I bought the pigs, I spent
money doing this stuff."
