Thank goodness someone else has spoken directly.


Whether P is advocating monism and materialism or dualism and religious 
faith is not obvious from my reading of his works. That he appreciates 
religious feeling as a vital part of human existence is obvious.

  Terance, I went to a Catholic junior school, I attended Baptist, 
Methodist and Non denom churches when necessary  (to get in the youth 
clubs), I drew up horoscopes (liked the sums!) and was part of a group of 
rural cultural guerillas ;-) ideologically dominated by post hippie druid 
types before i became politically alert and active. Were I a writer of 
ordinary fiction I would most certainly use my knowledge in those areas to 
create (hopefully) resonant metaphors for human relations, emotions and 
art. It would not mean that my fiction was

I'm with Richard on this one, but feel drowned in your excesses rather than 
severely irritated. Less can be more!
