At the Halloween parade....

Last night I went to the Halloween parade in the Village, where I saw 
an interesting costume -- an older fellow dressed casually, carrying 
a copy of Gravity's Rainbow and carrying a sign reading THOMAS 
PYNCHON. (The guy wasn't actually *in* the parade, he was just a 
spectator walking on the street.) So I laughed, and went up to ask 
for his autograph, and he signed it "Salinger."

Richard Lane, was that you????
