David,

If you snuck up behind somebody and pulled a carpet-knife across his throat 
with the intention of ending his life, and somehow he miraculously made his 
way to a hospital, got stitched up and survived, would you say his 
allegation that you tried to murder him didn't hold water? Because that's 
the exact same kind of logic you're using in the statement below.
