thank you, paul, for hinting at these columns. me read what michael kelly has
written there since 9/11 and found little to disagree with. last week's piece
starts with the sentence: "pacifists are not serious people, although they
devoutly believe they are, and their arguments are not being taken seriously at
the moment." here in europe, i'm afraid, those 'arguments' are taken far too
seriously ... read you: kai frederik, on the "tag der deutschen einheit" (day of
german unity) ... the person to answer me first to whom we (and by "we" i
here mean everybody: imagine a divided germany now ...) must be grateful that
the re-unification actually took place wins a weekend with this 'americanized'
teuton ... ps: here's a little hint --- it was neither francois nor maggie ...
