"Censorship? I personally wasn't the least bit offended by Maher's
remarks or those of his guests. In fact I thought they were points worth
making. But obviously Maher knew -- and his guests knew -- that many
people would find their comments provocative and perhaps even offensive.
(After all being edgy and going against the grain is Maher's whole
schtick.)
Nobody *censored* Mr. Maher or prevented him from speaking his mind. He
spoke out, and then he got bashed for it. What's wrong with that? If I
say something outrageous or unpopular, do I have any right to complain
if somebody responds with outrage or disagreement? Negative criticism is
hardly censorship."
Bill Maher was threatened with cancellation. He wasn't simply receiving
negative feedback, his livelihood was threatened. Don't get me wrong, I'd
love to see Bill Maher disappear from my TV set. But not this way.
