Yes, it's a shame there weren't more "independent" journalists around a few
years back to harass Clinton and his cronies after bin Laden took the credit
for bombing the WTC and those two African embassies. The casualties from the
terrorist attacks on the U.S. as well as those from the current, strategic
military operation in Afghanistan could have been averted had he been pushed
by "dissenters" to exercise a bit of global resourcefulness back then.

But I guess the "d" in "dissent" (in the U.S., anyway) is more often than
not just the "d" in "Democrat" in disguise, isn't it. Can't see Pynchon ever
getting up on the hustings for either party's candidate myself.
