dropping food on mine fields

Malign, you're still splitting hairs and trying to count angels dancing on
that pin head of yours. According to mainstream press reports the U.S. is
dropping food on mine fields and aid workers at the scene say women and
children will rush out to get the packages; if it hasn't happened already,
it's safe to assume it will soon. Civilians, including infants, have
already been killed and injured by the attack on Afghanistan, and your
denials and obfuscations can't change that. The Bush Administration is
excusing its killing of civilians by asserting, without any evidence at
all, that these civilians are working for the Taliban (Rumsfeld said it
just that bluntly today on TV). It is a difficult reality to accept. But
it's worth thinking about because it's being done in our names, assuming
you're a citizen of U.S. or one of the countries that supports the Bush
bombardment of Afghanistan.

Glad to see you've backed away from the ludicrous questioning of whether or
not there are mine fields in Afghanistan and if children have been killed
or maimed by same. That was a bit embarassing, wasn't it. Even a reader of
the Wall Street Journal would know those facts.

Speaking of making the U.S. safe from terrorism, I note that all of the
bombs and missiles haven't done a thing to defend against what appears to
be further terrorist attacks -- this anthrax thing, which Bush tried to pin
on bin Laden today. Seems to me that a fresh approach may be necessary.
If your enemies are everywhere, and can strike at will, it may be a good
idea to take the route of reconciliation instead of blindly killing more
innocent people in the part of the world you've already pissed off. That's
not the way that good U.S. cowboys do it, unfortunately, and it pisses me
off that a lot of people are dying, and a lot more people are likely to
die, in part because of a bunch of stupid movie cliches and macho bs.
