Now you're dehumanizing Pynchon! He's unsettling to you now too, so you're
marginalizing Him! 'He's only a novelist for heavens sake!' And now you
got Davey joining in, with that 'stupid clarity' in his eyes, 'infecting'
him with your tired old 'sickness.'
I can see why you'd want to put it high up on the shelf too. Up where you
don't have to feel him creaking in your bones (not literally, David).
