"Don Corathers" :
>Right. That would be why Lyndon Johnson decided not to run for re-election

And the American people elected Nixon, who prolonged the war -- killing
untold numbers of Americans and Vietnamese in the process -- until he had
to resign in the face of criminal charges and impeachment.

"Don Corathers" :
>As others have pointed out, there are no meaningful moral parallels between
>this war and Vietnam.

Tell that to the family in Kabul that was bombed by American planes last
night, 8 people in one family killed, including 2 babies.

"Don Corathers" :
>I have read all of your posts since September 11, Doug, and I have not yet
>encountered a workable alternative to what is being done.

So you buy into the Bush propaganda and don't see an alternative. I'm glad
that the folks at the international aid agencies and UN who are calling for
a halt to the bombing don't agree with you.

"Don Corathers" :
>We are dealing
>with an army that is essentially a wholly owned subsidiary of Al Queda. Do
>you really think the Taliban is going to tolerate the insertion of
>"peace-keepers," as you suggested the other day? If you believe that bin
>Laden must be neutralized, and I do believe that, the only available course
>of action is military force.

I agree that this is what Bush and Blair are telling everybody. Other
informed observers have a different view.
