Howdy
And it sounds absolutely wonderful read aloud. The entire book ought to
be read slowly, at a speaker's pace. Its music is rich and resonant,
and ravishing. 

All those old-timery capital letters sprinkled about take work to
ignore unless you slow way down.  Perhaps that is part of their
function in the text? They are both a typographical costume and speed
bumps.
