Luther,

Don't bail out on us, pal.  We need your sobering and understanding 
influence badly.  I've only been on the list for a short while myself.  In 
the initial days after last week's tragedy I felt privileged to have found 
such a compassionate group of people.  But given the dreadful flow of "bomb 
the towelheads into oblivion" diatribes that have flowed relentlessly 
since, I'm beginning to wonder if some members of the list have ever truly 
read a Pynchon novel.

I can assure you that in the bars in my little corner of the world, the 
resident gorillas in the corner are spouting the same zenophobic and racist 
filth as you're finding.

Keep the faith, Luth.  If nothing else, you'll feel better.
