Pynchon and the current situation

First of all your assumption about my lack of self-doubt is perplexing. I
just re-read my original e-mail and, while it exudes a certain confidence,
it certainly didn't come off (to me at least) as openly antagonistic or
authoritative. But I know that we'd all like our interlocutors to engage us
with their head bowed, their hat in hand. It's much easier that way, it
really is. Especially when the man with the bowed, hatless head has views
that, on previous occasions, were shown to be in the minority. I guess what
I'm trying to say is that I don't think my little nugget of info required a
"blunt" response on your behalf, especially one which professed to know my
opinions on the matter before I had even formulated them myself. For
instance, I want to know why you thought I assumed that "it would have been
prudent for those charged with protecting the President's life to have been
so dull-minded?" This was a rhetorical question, was it not? To be honest, I
think the actions of Bush and his handlers were perfectly reasonable, for
the same reasons you mentioned earlier; this "flat-out lie" nonsense is just
that: nonsense. I thought I was posting something that, for once, would not
produce a stream of hostile responses. I was merely trying to outline other
people's opinions w/r/t the airforce 1 debacle, while attempting to use my
own skills of deduction. But I guess you did me a big favor. By expressing
my views for me, you've shaved a few minutes off my schedule that I can use
to--oh, I don't know--detail my car, pay my bills, boil up some pasta. Now I
know that we've tended to be on opposite sides of things these last couple
of weeks, but next time you should probably avoid assuming as much before
the facts are even in. Or maybe I should try using more transparent
language. Either way, it's gonna be a tough road to travel. I'm also
interested to know what my "desired ends" are. Your's as well.

Must I inform you that there exist other delivery systems than a jetliner?
Your suppositions are designed, as usual, to support your desired ends. Do
you think it would have been prudent for those charged with protecting the
President's life to have been so dull-minded?

I'm sorry to be so blunt, but you force me by your lack of any self-doubt.
