Dan,
Pardon me. I over-reacted to what I perceived as your support of the
"'flat-out lie' nonsense" from Mr. Fiero, whose offlist response continued
to maintain that his theory was blatantly self-evident and that only a naive
would believe the White House explanation. You did not do this. You only
offered support for his thesis without offering an alternative possibility.
You were not obliged to do so.
Like you, I have not stated my opinion on what is ultimately a very minor
matter, only my unwillingness to accuse the President of cowardice at that
time of high crisis, which is the only important part of this exchange.
Again, I apologize.
