Thanks, Paul, for that reminder of the way the U.S.
powers that be have in the past demonized pacifists
and may likely do again.  Certainly, people who have
in the past consistently chosen the path of violence
do not like that choice questioned.

In M&D, we get to read about the Quakers and their
resistance to the genocide program that their fellow
colonists eagerly embraced -- the rest of the
settlers, except those peaceful few, understood the
need to make the world safe for commerce by murdering
the dark-skinned, evil Others, too.
