I swore to myself that I wouldn't get involved in any more of this
discussion but it seems I can't help it...

Seems to me that that horse has left the barn.  On the other hand:
would  all of "those people" in the middle east really be better off if
we'd never bought their oil? Never given them cash for their principal
exportable commodity? How would they be better off again, exactly?

If we weren't buying their oil we wouldn't need to give a dump about
Israel, or anything else, right?
