I've not argued that Pynchon's novels are christian or that he is
christian in the sense that Lewis is. I've never argued that here, but
the fear that this could actually be the case seems to loom large in
this forum. Wonder why?

Also, see that Coe essay on the hunt--the hunt for Christ & Mary goes
back to the novel V. where P makes use of Frazer, Eliade, Graves, a few
others I can't hink of at the moment.
Also of interest, given Mason's comments on Indians, are the chapters,
no the whole book on Indian hating. I think it was written by Melville.
