The two Indios beatified by the Pope reported to Spanish colonial authorities 
that the people in their village had reverted to worshiping some of the old 
gods.  When the Spaniards got this information they sent in troops who 
massacred the inhabitants.  A group of survivors "martyred" the two in 
retaliation for their treason.
This celebration of genocide is in the grand tradition of most of 
post-crucifixion Christianity.
