Okay, trying to knock off most of what I might have
left to say, though I suspect I'm going to have to do
an emergency replacement research run (missing a sheaf
of documents here inc. the One Damn Thing I Need to
Continue ...) during the day, so ...

The yo-yo is a perfect example here, introduced
appropo of seemingly nothing in particular, or, at any
rate, immediately at hand--i.e., apparently "outside"
the purview of any figure 'inside" the text--and yet
serving to introduce/elaborate/exacerbate/whatever a
seemingly key trope in the text. Which, while not
cited above, was kinda sorta my point about such--say,
this Visto(synechdochally inc. the cadre who carved it
out of the landscape)/vermin/worm thing--seemingly
capital-s&m Significant Moments here ...
