Do a search on the web for "non-violence" and read some of what you find,
regarding the spectrum of tactics that come into use in non-violent.  Query
our mutual P-list  friend (she doesn't even lurk any more, but I can put
you in touch with her if you don't have her email address) and find out
what she does and how she feels about it when she takes part in non-violent
demonstrations as part of her actisivm.

I provided many pointers to such resources the last time this came up in
this discussion, a few months back.  No need to rehash it now.  It's in the
archives.
