>>>find out what she does and how she feels about it when she takes part in
non-violent
demonstrations as part of her actisivm.<<<

What she *feels* is completely irrelevant to this discussion. All that
matters is what she verbalizes, especially to those she is challenging. Is
one of her tactics to make homicidal threats? Are homicidal threats
considered part of the tactics of Quaker pacifism? Does she consider making
violent assertions about her right to kill a person consistent with
non-violence? Does she contradict people who *assume* she is a non-violent
person? I think writing down a list of portions of the text where Dixon is
verbalizing and asking Chris to check off all of those which are consistent
with her beliefs and actions and verbalizations is an excellent idea.

As is your suggestion to look up 'non-violence' in OED. Here you go:

"The principle or practice of abstaining from the use of violence.

"So non-violent a., characterized by, believing in, or practising
non-violence; non-violently adv., in a non-violent manner."
