MDDM ch.72 The Driver's Children

My reading of this scene disturbs me. But I have to go with my gut. 
I think that-

    "No! Please! My Little ones! O Tiffany! Jason!"
    "Any more?"
    "-Soames!"

Is The Driver begging and Dixon responding, "Any more?" and
then ripping away the keys and spitefully freeing the "little
ones."

Not sure if anyone else reads it that way, but having seen too
many stressed out time harried parents abuse their children in 
public, mostly verbally- "You fuck'd up my Sale, you fuck'd up
my day, you fuck'd up my business,- Now I owe, &etc..." And
being a parent myself, and knowing how stress can tempt one
to abandon all control, too many memories of shopping malls
crowded with frazzled families come swimming back to haunt me.

It's just the feeling the scene gives me. And while I'm allowing
myself the verboten masochistic torture of crossing the
line, and entering into the head of The Driver, isn't it Dixon
who loses control here? And if Dixon hadn't perversely taken time
to free those The Driver seems to covet most- "My Little ones,"
and instead remained focused on murder, isn't it a safe bet the
slaves would not have urged him to flee in time, and he would
have been justly hung under prevailing law?

There is no certainty that Dixon is not motivated, here,
as much by subconscious conflicts for having himself
abused the helpless, as by any altruistic heroism. Nor is
there any guarantee that at least some of his violence is 
not motivated by a fetishistic desire to possess that whip, 
and all its history.
