Just for the record, I also strongly disagree with an earlier comment Doug
made when he was free-flaming s~Z and claiming that there are "so many who
use similar tactics" to those which he most commonly employs here. His
"tactics", his dishonesty, rather, often coming when weaknesses in his
arguments are exposed, or errors in his literal interpretation of the text
are pointed out - labelling others as neo-Nazis and Holocaust-deniers,
ridiculing non-native speakers for a lack of proficiency in English,
continually resorting to distortions and ad hominem to try and monopolise
the list-discussion, and more - are his and his alone. If he was sincerely
interested in "positive, constructive discussion", which I don't for a
moment believe is true, then he might do worse than take a leaf out of his
own version of Pynchon's Dixon's book and try "stopping himself before he
fully releases his violent urge[s]", try "managing to channel his rage into
the positive act[s]" of forbearance and restraint which he pretends to
admire, and advocates so self-righteously, "and at the same time do the best
job he could in the moment to follow Christ's model of non-violence".
Practice what he preaches, in other words.
