"what might have been" in new movies

                 ?What might have been ? thing is always popular with 
filmmakers , as well , as themes of irreversibility . Compare two new films : 
Brian DePalma?s  ?Femme Fatale? and Gaspar Noe?s ?Irreversible? . DePalma is 
exploring territory of things , which could have happened to his heroine . Not 
very successful , must say . Noe , as his title suggests , is very pessimistic 
.. In his film nothing can be changed . Plus the story is told from the end to 
the beginning ( think ?Memento?) and the last sentence is ?Time destroys 
everything ? . ?Irreversible? is not an eas viewing ( too violent ) , but 
Noe?s point about impossibility of stopping or changing events is more 
convincing , than Depalma.
