What DOESN'T bring up that Bakhtinian carnivalesque in
re: those Pynchonian texts these days, might be the
question. But, off the top of my pointy, pointy head
(not to mention that of my trusty, trusty search
engine, but have these, at least) ...
Dickson, David. The Utterance of America:
Emersonian Newness in DOS Passos' U.S.A. and
Pynchon's Vineland. Stockholm: Almqvist &
Wiksell, 1998.

Holdsworth, Carole A. "Dulcinea and Pynchon's V."
Cervantes: Bulletin of the Cervantes Society of
America 19.1 (1999): 27-39.

Will do some legwork soon as I get a chance, but, I'm
guessing, maybe at least Terrance can rattle off a few
more titles for you. Bakhtin comes up often enough in
Pycnhon studies, I'm sure ...
