I agree, but precisely that makes it inevitably racist like the overwhelming
part of our literature. And sexist too, remember there's even a female
monster to be killed in it.

"Universal and timeless themes" means logocentric meta-histories.

I think it's no coincidence that "The Lord of the Rings", "Harry Potter" and
the second "Star Wars"-trilogy are successful movies at the same time when
people feel that we're all in trouble (Rowling and Lucas owe Tolkien a lot).
So "The Lord of the Rings" comes wave-like every twenty years or so to bring
back the lost childhood magic to a secularized world that fears the end
could be near.

But I still love LR and therefor have avoided to watch the movie(s) yet to
keep my own imagination.
