documentary "Derrida," a blissful examination of the
life of the philosopher Jacques Derrida by the
directors Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering Kofman, a blur of
movement whooshes across the screen while a voice
says, "There's a future which is predictable."
This kernel of reflection from "Derrida" summarizes
the fare at the 20th annual Sundance Film Festival,
which began here in 1983.

subject shows himself to be self-deprecating,
quick-witted and self-aware, even making fun of his
own vanity while making statements that require
