An ABC radio report:  

At Bagram air base north of Kabul, a US military spokesman, Colonel Roger 
King, states that an AC-130 helicopter gunship, a B-52 bomber & 7 other 
aircraft had joined the attack after coalition ground forces had been fired 
upon.  He also offers the excuse that fireworks may have been mistaken for 
hostile gunfire.    

With the current state of alert in this country, I would advise you all to 
watch the skies before you light that Roman candle!!

(Oh, apropos of nothing, I am convinced that Monica is a real woman)
