Flash floods/ dog days of summer

Actually forgot  the main reason I decided to post about the flood to this
list...

The news reports have been calling it a "High Water Event."  The similarity
to _White Noise_ "The Airborne Toxic Event" strikes me as funny.

The way we watched the event unfold... watching the rain continue from our
windows, switching on the radio for information, the police putting up
barricades at low water crossings, then the evacuations...

That was the point I meant to make...
