I don't think Rob deserves to be commended here. His apparently
dignified approach is nothing of the sort. Moreover, his protracted feud
with Doug has turned this Pynchon list into a chat room about the LIST.
When Doug is on the canvas, Rob, like MalignD, just can't help kicking
him a few times. Even when Doug is finally knocked out, they keep
taunting him, trying to lure him out of the locker room, spitting on the
canvas where Doug's blood and sweat remains conspicuous.
I'm not defending Doug. God knows I can't stand to see Dave Monroe come
to defense like an ambulance chaser, but I think you are simply wrong on
this.
The German soccer team beat the Saudi Arabians 8 to 0. Robe is like the
German team, he's good, skilled, smart, trained, classic, but when we
take a closer look we see the German players grabbing the Saudi players
by the shirt and the jock strap, spitting on them, stepping on their
feet, using racial slurs, elbowing them in the back of the head,
taunting and rubbing it in.
It's eight nothing Paul, I don't think Rob needs a coach to tell him to
take out his defensive players and put in six strikers to run up the
score. Does he?
