Given the large number of lurkers and regular participants who don't
express political views, I'm not sure how anybody could be sure of this.  I
find a relatively broad spectrum of views here.

Agreed.  A bit of friendly back and forth, probing to see where the
arguments are
weak or strong on either side, surely that's among the reasons for Pynchon-L?
