Like other minority sexual communities, the fetish for pork products has its
distinct sub-communities, I'm discovering. There are "just-bacon" cliques,
advocates of cooked and uncooked meat, porkers who use fry-ups for
masturbation and others who prefer to cook it up with companions. There is
even a subset that considers full-contact pork sex vulgar, preferring a
subtler use of meat-as-erotica. "Just the presence of a strip of bacon on
the bedside table sets the mood," writes one columnist in the popular fetish
newsletter Pig in a Poke, advocating a more aromatherapy-like approach. Many
porkers overlap, Venn diagrammatically, with other people who like ro go to
conventions: gamers, goths, Buffy fans, the larger kink community. But
whether pig-centric or more generally kinky, the one thing the porkers at
this convention have in common is a sense of togetherness: the Web has kept
them from isolation, allowing them to develop a cutting edge culture of
their own. Everyone here seems to have an identical sentimental story of the
first time they came upon a pigsex website — that cathartic sensation of "at
last, somebody understands."
