Back at Newark Mason receives news of Nev. Maskelyne's elevation as
Astronomer Royal. Dixon manipulates the conversation so that Cha. can vent
some of his suppressed hurt and anger. Jere's wise words and friendly advice
go some way towards ameliorating Mason's disappointment.
