I recently spent a couple bucks on ebay to buy a New Yorker from 1963 where they review _V._ It is a mixed review - but one thing that struck me as true... He said something like, "Read it twice or don't read it at all." That was true in my case... Liked it the first time through, loved it the second time... You really don't have enough of an angle on Stencil until the second go around... There are just too many scenes that don't make complete sense until later... from Father Fairing to Paola.

enjoy.
