Interesting, the movement from TRP's simple reference
in his text, on to another text, in order to make a
point about TRP's text, in this case whether or not
critical theory might be considered an important
influence on TRP's early stories.  I don't discount
that possibility at all, merely observe that a reader
has to dig below the surface by following references
in Pynchon's text, references that point to other
texts, in order to do that -- Hollander's method (not
his alone, of course, in the wide world of Pynchon
criticism), of which much has been said in this forum.
