"...of what we all want to believe..." p9.

Somewhere in the archives of the NYT, if they haven't
been updated beyond all recognition, there is a story
about the firery Ludwig Wittgenstein- he of:

    Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent. 

storming out of a lecture by Popper. Later in the article
Ludwig's colleague Russel, describes how, in response to
the philosophical position represented by the above quote,
he tried to get Ludwig to admit that there wasn't a 
Rhinoceros in the living room. Wittgenstein remained mute.

Which all goes to make me wonder just who the identity
of The Slow Learner in question might be? There seems,
puerility aside, to be some ambiguity between the implied 
teacher and the implied pupil in this essay. Not only that,
but what, exactly, is the lesson? Beyond the craft of
fiction, that is.
