SL Intro: "fiction both published and unpublished"

Can't help but wonder if he's referring to his own
unpublished fiction, along with unpublished works of
other writers.  If the latter, this little phrase
might seem to indicate literary exchanges with other
writers that might be interesting to know about.  If
he's talking about unpublished fiction of his own that
pleases him, why hasn't it been published? 
Tantalizing, imo.
